Ex#5: Contrast

Fresh from your new-found understanding of contrast in terms of lighting, I thought it might be interesting to continue working with your learning partners and explore "Contrast".

Now, I want you to interpret the word "Contrast" BEFORE you begin to take your next round of digital photographs. There are many ways to interpret "Contrast" - in terms of light, colour vs b/w, texture and tone and even between subject and photography style. Or, inherently within the subject matter. Feel free to explore it in the realm of the self-portrait too.

This time, you will be working together in your learning pairs (as opposed to one taking a photo of the other). Once you have discussed with each other the way(s) you'd like to interpret "Contrast"; I want each one to take at least 4 photographs and share it first with your learning partner. Then, together choose the best 4 of the 8 photos and post those 4 only.

As always, your two names in the title and this time "contrast" in the label. NOTHING ELSE!

I plan to get a designer/graphic artist friend to comment on your work. Together, we will grade the set of photographs on originality, technical expertise and composition. On a scale of 1 to 10. Anything below 6 will be considered "fail" (in your scheme of things).

You have till Wednesday Sept 17th 10pm to post your photographs. Each day later, takes your score down by 1 point. We will post our comments and scores by Monday Sept 22nd 10am.
